One opening Super Bowl weekend; the other in March By Becky Billingsley
Tuesday, February 2, 2010, North Myrtle Beach – Two restaurants are opening almost across the street from each other in North Myrtle Beach.
The one that will open first is Midtown Bistro located at 2004 U.S. 17 S., which is the former location of El Ranchito and Mama’s Own Deli. Midtown is owned by Jeff and Amy Martini, who also own the building where the restaurant is located. The Martinis have another restaurant at 97 U.S. 17 S. in North Myrtle Beach called Martini’s.Midtown Bistro will have “simple food at simple prices,” Amy Martini said in the new restaurant on Jan. 28. Lunch and dinner will be served, and prices are in the $7 to $13 range.
A few menu selections include Lasagna, Stuffed Peppers, Wings, Pizza and sandwiches including Triple Decker Club, Monte Cristo, Reuben and Chicken Cutlet. The Martinis also plan to offer daily specials.
The restaurant has been remodeled to include leopard print carpet, cherry-colored woods and black décor accents. Several tables are arranged in an L shape around a cozy full service bar with a stone wall behind it.
Midtown Bistro is scheduled to open during Super Bowl weekend, although the exact time and date has not yet been selected. When it does open, hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The number is (843) 427-4720.
Across the highway at 2009 U.S. 17 S., in the former location of Buffalo Hot Wings, remodeling is coming along for Mike Tasagatos’ new restaurant called Forbes Steakhouse. The décor includes a ceiling of wide and glossy wood planks, booth and banquette seating and a long and glamorous bar area featuring a black granite bar top. Much black and gold is featured, including black wallpaper with what looks like gold filigree wires running through it.
In front of Forbes is an ice cream parlor called Scoops, which will remain an ice cream parlor. In Forbes Steakhouse the menu will feature USDA Prime steaks, and seafood such as fresh fish, scallops and lobster. A March opening is planned. |
